Energy, climate and carbon are the threads that run through our society and that we started pulling on early in our careers. We are still exploring where they go, and helping our clients find their way forward.
Trevor and Mark met as part of McKinsey’s sustainability and cleantech practice, where we consulted for companies from solar and battery manufacturers to wind developers to power plant owners to industrial conglomerates. We both enjoyed consulting, and wanted to do it outside of the confines of a large firm.
The way we work with clients is rooted in the diversity of the paths we’ve been on before and since McKinsey.
Mark was a newspaper reporter covering the California energy crisis, and was wowed by all the technical, political and economic complexity happening as the result of some man-made rules. That reporting experience drew him into the world of energy. Bike racing in college, and stints in the Peace Corps, law school, a master's degree in environment, four years at McKinsey & Co. and product work in startups and tech companies all helped shape how he works with people.
What's become Mark’s passion is guiding organizations to find opportunities in decarbonization and related topics. He brings the practicality of operating roles in software product and running an ESCO to his work. Decarbonization is a complex area with as many dead ends as opportunities – he enjoys understanding what customers need and how regulations and product realities interact with that.

Trevor’s journey into energy and sustainability started with an engineering degree and deepened during his time at MIT, where he combined technical know-how with business acumen to tackle large-scale environmental challenges. His curiosity about energy technologies and innovation took him from managing product teams in cleantech startups to advising investors, strategic entrants, and pureplay cleantech startups on how to capitalize on the energy transition. Early career experiences – including inventing key hydrogen energy technologies his startup licensed to Apple, and spearheading McKinsey's efforts to model and forecast the North American electrical grid – reinforced both the immense value and the challenges of renewable energy and climate initiatives.
Trevor’s current focus is guiding companies through the complexities of decarbonization and growth in the climate tech space. Drawing on years of experience in product management, technology strategy, and finance, he helps clients navigate the intersection of innovation, investment, and market entry. His work is driven by a belief that practical, data-driven solutions can unlock new opportunities in sustainability and contribute meaningfully to reducing global emissions.
We’re excited to be on the decarbonization journey with our clients. Decarbonization is a rich field that sometimes has the frustrations of a commodity business and sometimes has the breathtaking drop of a world created from ideas. Let's explore it together.
